The main hall of the UNED hosted this week the presentation of the eighth promotion of the School of Legal Practice, aimed at law graduates and lawyers of the island. Prominent magistrates, prosecutors and lawyers from Lanzarote and the Canary Islands will act as teachers in this new edition, which comes with several new features, as explained during the presentation.
One of them is that the duration of the School will be one academic year and not two, as had been happening until now, starting in October and ending in mid-June. In addition, this year the possibility of enrolling by modules has been opened. "This means that all those fellow lawyers and officials who wish to update or recycle themselves in any of the subjects taught by the school or who are interested in any specific content of the training program, can enroll in the module and benefit from continuous and updated training, which will be taught by different professionals," explain from the UNED.
In addition, during the event they highlighted the "professionalism and value" of the teachers who will train this new promotion, among whom are the head of the Court of First Instance Number 5 of Arrecife and instructor of the Unión case and the Stratvs case, Silvia Muñoz; the prosecutor of the Arrecife and Fuerteventura party, Joaquín Bobillo; the magistrate of the Administrative Litigation Court No. 5 of Las Palmas, Ángel Teba García; the magistrate of the Court of First Instance Number 2 of Arrecife, Adalberto de la Cruz; the magistrate of the Criminal Court Number 3 of Arrecife, Aitziber Oleaga; and the lawyers Eugenio Seoane-Chanes, Florencio Lariño, María de la Cámara Suárez and Rosa María García. Added to them is the current Commissioner of the National Police, Luis Mayandía, who for the first time will join this School as a teacher, for his experience in the area of immigration.
A "special gesture of gratitude" to Ignacio Stampa and Jerónimo Alonso
During the presentation of the new edition of this School of Legal Practice, organized by the UNED in collaboration with the Bar Association of Lanzarote and judges and prosecutors of the island, a recognition and a "special gesture of gratitude" was made to two professionals who this year have not been able to intervene: the prosecutor Ignacio Stampa, who a few months ago left the island to join the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office in Madrid, and the magistrate of the Court of Instruction Number 2 of Arrecife, Jerónimo Alonso.

"This year we unfortunately cannot count on their presence, but we hope to be able to invite them to the development of some of the conferences to be held," said the organizers, who highlighted the "participation and predisposition that Stampa and Alonso always maintained with this school. "They always believed in a quality school and were always willing to contribute to make it possible," said the director of the UNED.
In addition, he also had words of recognition for one of the magistrates who repeats as a teacher, Silvia Muñoz, and who also spoke at the presentation. He pointed out that, together with Stampa, she was the teacher best valued by the students of the last promotion and stated that she received "cum laude". The magistrate, for her part, also wanted to remember Ignacio Stampa and the "great work" he developed in this School until last year.
Master class by the president of the Contentious Chamber of the TSJC
Along with the director of the UNED of Lanzarote, Andrés Martín Duque, and the judge Silvia Muñoz, the dean of the Bar Association of Lanzarote, Carlos Viña, and some of the teachers of this new edition, such as the prosecutor Joaquín Bobillo and the judge Adalberto De la Cruz, attended the presentation of this new promotion.
During the coming months, each one will be in charge of teaching the different subjects according to their specialty. In addition, in this edition there will also be a day of administrative law, by the president of the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, Cesar García Otero, who will give a master class.

From the UNED Lanzarote and the Bar Association of Lanzarote remind that the registration period is already open and those interested can register until October 31, both going to the UNED and through a link enabled on the Internet. Classes will be distributed in three days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 17:00 to 21:00 hours, and will be "eminently practical", they specify. As for those interested in enrolling only in some of the subjects, they can contact the UNED for more information.
