One of the women on the Lanzarote boat from this Monday gave birth during the crossing

One of the women traveling aboard the boat rescued during the morning of this Monday in waters of Lanzarote gave birth during the crossing, and had to be assisted by the Maritime Rescue helicopter once she got on the Talía coast guard.

According to details given to EFE by sources from the state society, both the mother and the newborn were in "apparently good" health, and were admitted to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital to continue with their monitoring.

When consulted, the Radiomedical Center recommends the evacuation by helicopter of the woman, who was calm according to the sources, and her newborn.

Precisely, the Maritime Rescue Center of Las Palmas already had the Helimer 202 helicopter ready to act, which was mobilized to the location of the Talía coast guard, where it proceeded to hoist both for their subsequent transfer to the Arrecife de Lanzarote airport, where a medicalized ambulance was waiting to take her to the hospital.

There were about 60 people on board this precarious boat, according to the provisional balance of the state society, of which 14 were women and four possible minors.
