In order to facilitate access to the Cueva de los Verdes during the Christmas period, the Lanzarote Council's road service has proceeded to disable one lane on the road that connects Los Jameos del Agua with the Cueva de los Verdes, the LZ 205. Therefore, until January 9, it will only be possible to travel in an upward direction from Los Jameos del Agua towards the Cave.
The CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, has pointed out that “it is the best solution we can adopt to decongest traffic in the vicinity of the center and improve the experience of our visitors during the high tourist occupancy seasons on the island, that is, in the summer months and during the Easter and Christmas holidays.”
The Councilor for Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, for his part, has assured that “we continue working to implement efficient solutions like this in other strategic points in order to improve the safety of the island's roads.”
The Cabildo, the Haría City Council, the Tourist Centers and the General Directorate of Traffic agreed to adopt this measure after assessing the result of the pilot experience developed during the second half of last August.
