Nursing students denounce again the lack of teachers in Lanzarote

After a teacher's leave, they state that "the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has not hired any other teacher to teach that practical subject"

Nursing students from ULPGC in Lanzarote protest due to the lack of professors

2nd year Nursing students from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria based in Lanzarote are demonstrating to request the incorporation of a substitute teacher, since the teacher who taught one of the subjects has been on leave since the beginning of the course.

The subject in which they do not have a teacher is one of the most important in the degree, as they are "the practices that will allow them to train in basic and necessary procedures for their Practicum 1 that will begin on February 25 in different health centers and in the José Molina Orosa Hospital", they denounce.

It is not the first time that Nursing students at the ULPGC have denounced the lack of teaching staff, since as La Voz published a few months ago, the third-year students already gathered to protest the lack of teachers.

So far, the ULPGC has not hired any teacher to teach the subject and, according to the students, "they have not given them any response".

"This makes the situation more complicated and they do not give us any strong justification, simply that we wait to see what they say and that we be patient, even telling us that 'that is in our hands and in the event that we do not find solutions it is possible that they will give us the techniques as not given and perhaps suspend the practices'", they say.

The students describe the University's management as "disastrous" and accuse them of "leaving the Fuerteventura and Lanzarote headquarters forgotten, playing with future professionals because it seems that they do not care that we are not trained in the correct way, since our work is not a game, we work with human lives and we require basic knowledge to do so".
