A municipality in Lanzarote reached 40 degrees this Monday

The island has been experiencing a heatwave since last week that forced Aemet to activate the yellow alert for high temperatures

The heat wave that is affecting Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands is leaving very hot temperatures in some places. In the case of Lanzarote, the highest temperature reached 40 degrees.

Specifically, 39.9 degrees were reached at the station located in Puerto del Carmen, in the municipality of Tías, according to information provided by the Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium, based on data offered by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

In other parts of Lanzarote, the values far exceeded thirty degrees. At Lanzarote Airport, thermometers reached 35.1 degrees at 2:00 PM. In the north, Haría registered 34.9 degrees at 1:00 PM.

In Arrecife, Aemet reports that the maximum temperature was recorded at 2:00 PM, when 31.2 degrees were reached. Playa Blanca was very close, where 32 degrees were registered. 

For its part, the data reflects that in La Graciosa, 29.4 degrees were reached, while in Tinajo, Aemet registered 28.9 degrees maximum at its station, some of the lowest values this Monday on the island.
