The majority of the 49 stowaways who arrived on Lanzarote on Friday hidden in a tugboat have shown their willingness to apply for asylum this Monday. This was reported by the Court's Communication Office. Of these, the 44 travelers who were considered adults upon arrival at the Port of Arrecife have testified before the Investigating Court number 3 of the capital of Lanzarote, on duty at the time of their arrival, and in charge of determining whether they will enter a Foreigners Internment Center or be released.
Of the people who have testified before the Court, three of them have argued that they are minors. For this reason, the three possible minors will pass to the network of public resources of the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Government of the Canary Islands, which must take care of their guardianship until the results of the age determination tests are known.
At the moment, the decision of the Court is still unknown.
