The Federation of Associations of Journalists of Spain (FAPE) will celebrate this weekend at the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife the eighty-second edition of the organization's General Assembly. As reported in a statement, the event will be attended by more than 80 journalists, belonging to 50 federated and 16 linked associations.

During the event, current issues in the journalistic environment will be discussed. The General Assembly, the highest governing body of the FAPE, will debate the proposed resolutions presented by several associations of journalists from the press and the Federation's own Board of Directors, which deal with issues of utmost importance in the journalistic environment.

Issues such as the coverage of the upcoming elections, the demand to the governments of the autonomous communities to facilitate the application of the Royal Decree by which journalists can teach Language and Literature, or the need to demand qualifications from those who perform journalism functions in public administrations, will be central to the debate that will take place this Saturday, April 15.

Topics for discussion

In addition, the distribution of institutional advertising, the creation of the News Council and the Professional Statute of Galician Television, the guarantee of freedom of the press in the coverage of sports competitions and the case of journalist Pablo González, imprisoned in Poland, are part of the topics to be discussed in an Assembly that will also address other internal matters, such as the modification of point 4.5 of the current statutes, the voting system in the assemblies or the transformation of the journalist card into a virtual one.

At the Assembly, the report of the president, Miguel Ángel Noceda, will be presented to the judgment and approval of the assembly members, who will take stock of the management carried out since he was elected to the position on May 21, as well as the report of the Guarantees and Audit Commission, the economic result of 2022 and the budget for 2023.

The activities around the 82nd General Assembly of the FAPE will begin on the afternoon of Friday, April 14, with a visit by the assembly members to the wine region of Lanzarote, La Geria, where they will visit the oldest winery in the Canary Islands, El Grifo, and participate in a wine tasting of the Lanzarote denomination.
