More than 200 people of different ages are participating in the III Drowning Prevention and other Risks in Aquatic Environments Campaign in Puerto del Carmen. The campaign is being developed in Playa Chica until this Saturday and will resume from August 20 to 24 in Playa Grande.
The Councilor for Beaches, Mame Fernández, visited Playa Chica to monitor this proposal, "necessary for any coastal tourist center such as Puerto del Carmen, where we have to place great emphasis on prevention with the delivery of workshops like these."

Mame Fernández was able to verify the importance of the information transmitted to the attendees, who, in this case, were 46 children who are carrying out different summer activities. The children performed practical cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) exercises and participated in the T-shirt painting workshop with the emergency number 112.
Until this Friday, the number of participants in the campaign exceeded 190 people, mostly children. On Saturday, the activity will continue in Playa Chica, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will resume from August 20 to 24 with the same schedule in Playa Grande.

The workshops consist of transmitting basic advice on drowning prevention, such as bathing accompanied, not moving away from the shore in natural aquatic spaces, getting wet before entering the water, avoiding heavy meals before bathing and not doing so if you feel very cold or tired.
This campaign is island-wide and is organized by the Mapfre Guanarteme Foundation and the Security and Emergency Consortium of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, with the collaboration of the Tías City Council.
