During this week and until Friday, April 23, more than 2,000 soldiers from the Air Force, the Army and the Navy will participate in the Canary Islands in the 'Eagle Eye 21-01'.

According to the Cabildo de Lanzaarote, this is an action that is carried out periodically and rotating in different areas of the peninsula and archipelagos, in order to promote the defense of the airspace of sovereignty and national interest.

In this sense, it is pointed out that the objective of the 'Eagle Eye 21-01' activation is to ensure the coordination of all capabilities and the efficiency of the National Aerospace Defense System, maximizing the training of the units to guarantee the surveillance and aerospace defense of the national territory. To achieve this, it has the contribution of different land, naval and air assets assigned to the Aerospace Operational Command (MOA), which will carry out activities in order to combine synergies, improve integration and maximize the operational performance of the participating units.

In Lanzarote, it is detailed that during these days the presence of six military combat aircraft will be perceived, which will make about six takeoffs a day, the last one being approximately at 24:00 hours. Due to the current situation of global pandemic, a series of restrictions and limitations have been established so that this mission can be carried out "with the least possible operational impact".
