Video demonstration for the death of Timple

The first video demonstration to protest against a case of animal abuse, the terrible death of Timple in a house in Teguise, was "a success" according to the Franz Weber Foundation, which has counted "more than 120,000 people" following the call through social networks from where the live broadcast was made: Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.

The symbolic call was made at the doors of the Teguise City Council and a manifesto was read there by the protection entities that initially called for citizen participation, in addition to the remote participation of recognized personalities from the cultural sector such as Fernando Tejero, Antonia Sanjuan, Alfonso Bassave, Nathalie Poza, Natalia Verbeke, Nuria Gago, Unax Ugalde or Inma Cuesta, among others.

In this "video demonstration" the so-called 'Teguise Pact' was also presented, a compendium of legal and social proposals with which the signatory NGOs intend to unify in a common roadmap where they urge parties and elected officials to join with their signature, and thus ensure that public authorities develop a series of regulatory reforms, such as addressing the hardening of the Penal Code and including animals in the Civil Code, in imitation of France, Germany, Portugal or Austria, and the creation of a Framework Law on Animal Protection for the entire State.

There are also proposals for regional and local application, with the Pact demanding the participatory development of a Canary Islands Animal Welfare Law, training measures for public officials, municipal technicians and civil servants, and awareness campaigns to educate younger generations in respect and empathy towards animals as a mechanism for preventing violence.
