Migration management, housing and tourist overcrowding, major concerns of the Canary Islanders

The Center for Scientific Research places the imbalance between autonomous communities or the problems of coexistence among the population at the end of the concerns

The management of immigration and tourist overcrowding and vacation apartments, as well as housing access policies and infrastructure improvement are among the main demands of the Canary Island population. This is reflected in a survey by the Center for Scientific Research released on Tuesday afternoon and collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.

When asked what is the most necessary initiative that the Government should take in the Canary Islands, the respondents answer first that the management of migration issues (22.6%), followed by housing access policies (18.5%) and tourism management, taking into account overcrowding and the excess of vacation apartments (8%).

Following these requests, the people of the Canary Islands ask for improvements to traffic infrastructure, roads, stations and airports (7.7%), improvements to public health (6.6%) and the promotion of employment plans (5.2%).

In contrast, among the least necessary, they state that the imbalance between autonomous communities, provinces and municipalities (0.2%), and coexistence between the population (0.2%), as well as the improvement of policy against polarization (0.2%) or the quality of employment, salaries, conciliation and teleworking (0.2%).
