The Social and Cultural Association for Women, Mararía, has made public its rejection of the murder of a woman in Tenerife last week, at the hands of her ex-partner. This is a new case of gender violence that raises the lethal count of femicides in Spain to 26 in 2022.

“The aggression at three in the afternoon, in the middle of the street and with knives, gives us the measure of the impunity with which some men act; and the same degree of forcefulness is what we demand from the administrations so that they persevere in education in Equality, so that they invest in prevention measures and so that they respond with all the force of the Law to an unbearable social scourge”, said the president of Mararía, Nieves Rosa Hernández.

Last Saturday, the feminist entity promoted a minute of silence in memory of the victim, a 34-year-old woman from Tenerife, at the end of the Pride demonstration, convened in Arrecife by the LGTBI+ Lánzate association.
