The senator from Lanzarote, Manuel Fajardo, is hospitalized after being vaccinated against Covid-19, as reported this Tuesday by the first vice president of the board of the Upper House, Cristina Narbona.
However, Fajardo himself has told La Voz that he believes his admission "has nothing to do" with a possible adverse reaction to the AstraZeneca vaccine. In this regard, he has indicated that it is a "colon ailment" that he has had for years. "I think it was a coincidence, but there is no causal relationship between the administration of the vaccine and the detected ailment," he insisted, noting however that he is not a doctor and that professionals should determine it.
What he has done is send a message not to create alarm. "I recommend vaccination," said the socialist senator, emphasizing its benefits and the need to immunize the entire population to end the pandemic.
The news of his admission was revealed by Narbona in an appearance in the Senate, in which she indicated that doctors are studying whether it is due to a "reaction" to the vaccine or whether it is an unrelated issue.
Despite being hospitalized, Manuel Fajardo participated this Tuesday in the meeting of the Senate Board, is "in good spirits" and "has been able to work with us," Narbona said.
Manuel Fajardo is 61 years old and has been a senator for Lanzarote since 2019 and held, among other positions, the Vice-Ministry of Justice of the Government of the Canary Islands between 2015 and 2016.
