A 57-year-old woman has been murdered at her home in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria allegedly by her boyfriend, a man with a history of gender violence against a previous partner who, after the events, committed suicide, as reported to EFE by police and judicial sources.

The bodies of the woman and the man were discovered this Wednesday by the victim's daughter, who went to her house in the El Zardo neighborhood, surprised that her mother had not gone to work, but they had been dead for approximately 36 hours, according to initial investigations.

The Police are investigating the circumstances of the homicide under the supervision of the Court of Violence against Women number 2 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, because the hypothesis with which they are working from the first moment is that it is a sexist crime.

The woman had obvious signs of violence and, next to her, a knife was found, the sources specified.

The man was found on the upper floor of the house, hanged. The Superior Court of Justice has confirmed that he had served a restraining order with respect to a previous partner.

The events have occurred inside a house located at number 105 of Vega del Río Palmas street, in the El Zardo neighborhood.

The victim and her alleged aggressor had been together for between two and three years, sources close to the woman have detailed.

With this crime, the number of fatal victims of gender violence in Spain amounts to six women and one child so far this month of June.
