Lanzarote and La Graciosa will experience this weekend the first heat episode of the year with temperatures that may reach 34 degrees, according to the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet).
As you will recall, the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands declared the situation of pre-alert for calima starting from midday this past Thursday in the archipelago. This episode of suspended dust will extend, at least, during the weekend, potentially increasing considerably.
For the day of Saturday, intervals of high cloudiness are expected. There will be haze, more significant in high areas and during the second half of the day. Minimum temperatures will be on the rise, as will maximums, this increase being notable on the western slope and without ruling out that it may be extraordinary in the western interior. Therefore, minimums of between 16 and 18 degrees and maximums that will exceed 30 degrees are expected in wide areas of the island, especially in the interior where it is not ruled out that 34 degrees may be reached in the west.
For its part, the wind will blow from an easterly component between light and moderate with strong intervals in the west of Lanzarote during the first half of the day.
The Sunday skies with intervals of medium and high clouds are expected. The calima will be especially significant in the entire vertical of the most eastern islands. The minimum temperatures will be on the rise, while the maximums will experience few changes or slight decreases. The temperatures minimum will be between 17 and 20 degrees, while the maximums will exceed 30 - 32 degrees in in interior areas of Lanzarote. The wind will blow from light to moderate from the east component in low areas.
