Lanzarote and La Graciosa will host three concerts of the XXX Canary Islands Music Festival

The Canary Islands Music Festival returns to Lanzarote and La Graciosa. This classical music event celebrates its thirtieth edition this year. Although on this occasion the cuts have forced to reduce its offer of concerts, there are still many artists that can be enjoyed in this new edition of the Festival.

In Lanzarote and La Graciosa there will be three concerts by two groups of "very high quality", as reported by the Cabildo. On the one hand, there will be the Kremerata Báltica, originally from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, directed by Gidon Kremer. On the other hand, the Tak-Nara Percussion Group, a Spanish group better known as Tak-Nara.

The first of the concerts will be held in the Church of Carmen de La Graciosa next Thursday, January 23, at 8.30 pm. It will be offered by the sextet of the Kremerata Báltica itself, composed of some of its best soloists and with Gidon Kremer himself among them. The repertoire will include pieces by Astor Piazzolla, J. S. Bach, Hiller or Reinfeldt and admission will be free, until full capacity.

The same Kremerata Báltica, but already complete, will perform at the Teatro Insular de Lanzarote on Saturday, January 25, at 9:00 pm. With all its members and with Gidon Kremer at the baton, the group created in 1997 and winner, among other awards, of a Grammy, will perform pieces by Arvo Pärt ("Cantus in memoriam Britten"), Mieczyslaw Weinberg ("Symphony No. 10"), Benjamin Britten ("Variations on a Theme of Bridge op. 10"), and Astor Piazzolla ("Suite Punta del Este for violin/vibraphone").

Concerts in February

On Tuesday, February 4, it will be the turn of Tak-Nara Percussion Group, which performs within the IV Youth Festival section of the Canary Islands Music Festival. Tak-Nara will play at the Convento de Santo Domingo de Teguise, at 9:00 pm, with a program that includes pieces by Maurice Ravel, Gustavo Díaz Jerez, Manuel de Falla or Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic.

Tak-Nara is one of the most relevant percussion groups in the Spanish and European music scene. Since its inception, this group formed by young and talented percussionists was received with very good reviews from the public and artists such as N. J. Zivkovic. He has also collaborated with other renowned artists such as Víctor Mendoza, Enmanuel Sejourné and Igor Lesnik.
