Last Friday, the Autonomous Final of the Philosophical Olympiad of the Canary Islands took place in Tenerife, held at the University of La Laguna and the TEA of Santa Cruz. Lanzarote was the best represented non-capital island in the final, with finalists in three of the four categories, and two winners: Valeria Placeres Limón from (IES César Manrique), finalist in the Ethical Dilemmas category and Ángel Samuel Díaz Díaz from (IES Agustín Espinosa), finalist in the Philosophical Dissertation category.

For the Philosophical Video category, the students from IES Costa Teguise have obtained the first prize: Manuel de la Hoz Morales, Javier Sebastián Toledo and Diego Antonio Fajardo Antelo.

Also, Penélope García Pérez from (IES Agustín Espinosa) has been fortunate enough to get the second prize.

After receiving the award, the first prize winning students will compete in the Philosophical Olympiad of Spain in April representing the Canary Islands in their category.

From the Philosophy Department of the IES Agustín Espinosa, they "appreciate the work of the teachers involved who have led the island of Lanzarote to such good results in a competition as demanding as the Philosophical Olympiad, remembering, in line with the campaign they launched in November for World Philosophy Day, that #PhilosophyMatters in Lanzarote".
