La Cueva de los Verdes hosted the Singing and Piano Recital organized last Saturday by the Prensa Juvenil Canaria collective. A musical event that featured the prestigious Gran Canaria tenor, Manuel Gómez, and the also Canarian and outstanding piano professor, Ignacio Clemente.
The attending public was able to enjoy a carefully selected repertoire where both the tenor and the pianist showed their great professionalism and good taste when interpreting each of the works. At all times, the complicity of both was transmitted to those present, where they also had the acoustics of the Cave, which allows the vocal qualities of the tenor to be exposed by not having electronic equipment that can distort him during his performance.
The very varied program included works by Henry Purcel, Joseph Haydn, Robert Schumann or Franz Shubert, among others, ending the recital with Federico García Lorca. For this, they chose compositions as popular as Anda Jaleo, Nana de Sevilla or Zorongo. It should be noted that both Manuel Gómez and Ignacio Clemente have trained in Berlin and Amsterdam respectively. Both are well known in operas or recitals like this last one in the Cueva de Los Verdes where they show off their stylistic knowledge and sensitivity in the chamber repertoire.
Paco Parrilla, a prominent member of the Prensa Juvenil Canaria collective, valued the recital very positively.
