The neighbor and retired police officer Juan Antonio Machado, will be the speaker of the Los Remedios festivities this year, a presentation that will begin at 8:00 p.m.

Originally from Puerto del Arrecife, specifically from the La Pescadería neighborhood, but residing continuously in Yaiza since 2009, he tells La Voz that "I have felt overwhelmed but proud to have that responsibility." "I am going to tell my experiences as a neighbor and as an official at the service of the Yaiza City Council," adds the speaker. "It will be a small review of the 32 years of my working life there," he confirms.

"I am quite nervous about the event," Antonio Machado confesses to the newspaper.

Machado joined as an agent of the Municipal Police of Yaiza on August 25, 1988, where he served until his retirement in 2020, at 60 years of age. Throughout his police career, he served as a union delegate for staff officials at the Yaiza City Council. Furthermore, throughout his professional career, he combined his work responsibilities with constant training in various fields such as drug addiction, prevention of gender violence, child protection, among others. In his last working stage, he assumed the responsibility of inspecting establishments open to the public, as well as classified activities and aspects related to noise pollution.

In the field of volunteering, Machado has been actively involved in the 'Calor y Café' association during the years 2022 and 2023. Furthermore, his connection with traditional and popular culture is manifested in his participation in the 'Parranda Marinera de Buches' since 1978, where he currently chairs the group in his second term.
