The Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted this Wednesday morning the official inauguration ceremony of José Domingo Crespo Rodríguez as a tenured official of the sergeant position of the Fire Department of the Security, Emergency, Rescue, Prevention and Fire Extinction Consortium of Lanzarote.

At the event, the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, congratulated the new sergeant on behalf of the Corporation, and conveyed her "utmost recognition, admiration and deep respect to each and every member of the Fire Department for the commendable work they perform every day and for their excellent technical and, above all, human quality".

"The Lanzarote Fire Department is, without a doubt, a benchmark inside and outside our island, and is also one of the services most loved and admired by citizens, who know that its workers are guarantors of safety and protection," added Corujo.

Commitment to improve material and human resources

The president highlighted the dedication and commitment of the Lanzarote firefighters, "who stand out for putting an enormous heart into everything they do" and endorsed "the commitment of the current Corporation to improve their material and human resources so that they can carry out their work in the best conditions, ensuring an effective response in their interventions".

During the event, in which José Domingo Crespo received his sergeant's helmet from the president, Francisco Javier Aparicio, president of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, as well as the manager of the entity, Enrique Espinosa, and a large group of colleagues from the Fire Department who wanted to support the new sergeant, were also present.

José Domingo Crespo, who had been occupying the position of sergeant in training since last June, thus becomes the first sergeant of the Lanzarote Fire Department. Crespo has been in the Corps for more than twenty years and, according to the Cabildo, his own colleagues highlight that he is "a born worker" who stands out "for his professionalism and vocation for public service".
