The physicist Blas Cabrera Felipe and the folklorist Antonio Corujo Tejera will be declared new Favorite Sons and the archaeologist Inés Dug new Adoptive Daughter. The Special Commission created for the granting of Honors and Distinctions of the Cabildo of Lanzarote for the year 2022 has given the green light to the proposals to declare new adoptive and favorite sons and daughters, as well as to award the Jameos de Oro in several modalities.

At the conclusion of the Special Commission, chaired by Councilor Alberto Aguiar, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, personally called the distinguished people by telephone to congratulate them. “We have taken an important step forward to adequately recognize the work of the best men, women and entities of our island, at the service of the common good,” the president said.

María Dolores Corujo assures that from the Government Group “we have done everything on our part so that all the groups represented in the Cabildo park our legitimate partisan differences, in order to reach broad agreements when recognizing the people and entities that deserve to be recognized.” "Inés Dug would be the first woman to be declared Adoptive and/or Favorite Daughter of Lanzarote since the first Regulations of Honors and Distinctions of the Cabildo were approved, in the mid-sixties. Therefore, we do justice with equality."
