The Cabildo of Lanzarote unanimously approved in the last Government Council of the year 2023 the proposal of the island artist Ildefonso Aguilar de la Rúa for the Canary Islands Awards in the Fine Arts and Interpretation category. These prestigious awards recognize the transcendental contribution to the Canarian cultural heritage in various artistic expressions such as painting, music, architecture, among others.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, enthusiastically declared that "the proposal of Ildefonso Aguilar for the Canary Islands Awards in Fine Arts and Interpretation is a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional career and his exceptional contribution to the world of art."
For his part, the Minister of Culture of the institution, Jesús Machín Tavío, has stated that "his dedication and talent have enriched the cultural landscape of Lanzarote, and we are proud to support his nomination for this prestigious award."
In addition, the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts of San Miguel Arcángel has informed the Cabildo that, for its part, they are also going to propose Ildefonso Aguilar for the Canary Islands Award 2024, giving significant weight to the figure and work of this outstanding artist from Lanzarote.
