The Hollywood filming of director Ron Howard has begun this Friday in El Golfo, which thus becomes the setting for the film "In the Heart of the Sea". More than 200 production people have moved to this coastal town. For the moment, there is quite a secrecy surrounding the filming.
In El Golfo you can already see some signage in English indicating the filming set, as well as some tents installed on an esplanade at the entrance of the town. Access to the Charco de Los Clicos is restricted for this reason.
Director Ron Howard himself has shared a photograph on Twitter, in which he points out that he has "five days of filming" ahead of him if "the weather cooperates", that is, if the weather conditions allow this recording.
From the Yaiza City Council they have indicated that for this film "many people from the town" have been hired for all kinds of tasks such as cleaning, installing computers or catering. The director has a permit to film until December 18, although the Council does not know if he will request a postponement.
The team comes from filming in La Gomera the scenes of this film, based on the work of Moby Dick. The film will recreate the harsh adventure of the survivors, who managed to save themselves thanks to some fragile boats, but suffered a terrible odyssey. The protagonist will be the actor Chris Hemsworth, well known for his role as "Thor". In addition, he is the husband of the Spanish actress Elsa Pataky.
