Health reports that a new Covid outbreak has occurred in Lanzarote in the last week. According to the Ministry of Health, it is a socially vulnerable group, linked to people who have arrived on the island by boat.

In the Archipelago as a whole, the Ministry of Health quantifies a total of 33 new outbreaks with 132 cases, of which 22 have occurred in Gran Canaria, five in Tenerife, five in Fuerteventura.

By area in which they have occurred, 15 are in socially vulnerable groups, seven social, four work-related, four family-related, two educational and one sports-related. Health adds that all outbreaks, except one, have fewer than 10 associated cases.

The outbreaks produced in socially vulnerable groups notified among people arriving in the Canary Islands by boat or canoes are distributed by islands as follows: 10 in Gran Canaria, four in Fuerteventura and one in Lanzarote.

The outbreaks reported in the family, social and work environments generally have between three and five associated cases, except for one work-related outbreak on a ship in Gran Canaria that has 11 people affected.

The two educational outbreaks, both with family ramifications and with seven associated cases each, have occurred one in primary education in Gran Canaria and another in early childhood education in Tenerife.

Health also continues to monitor four old outbreaks: one work-related in Tenerife with 30 cases, another with 15 people affected in the Santo Domingo Socio-Health Center, in Tenerife, one family-related in Fuerteventura with nine affected and one work/family-related in Tenerife with eight linked cases.
