Health notifies two new outbreaks of Covid in Lanzarote, one of them in the educational field

A branch of an outbreak detected in La Palma has also reached the island, which already has 15 people affected from a group of friends and family.

The Canary Islands registers this week 92 new outbreaks with 500 cases, of which 53 have occurred in Tenerife, 32 in Gran Canaria, two in Fuerteventura, two in Lanzarote and three in La Palma, one of them with a branch in Lanzarote.

By ámbito in which they have occurred, 45 are family outbreaks, 17 social, 17 labor, eight educational, three sports and two in socially vulnerable groups.

In general, all outbreaks have less than 10 associated cases except for four outbreaks, among which one in La Palma with a branch in Lanzarote stands out, of social/family origin with 15 cases, and associated with a family and friends meeting; an educational one also in La Palma with a family and work branch with 13 people affected; another sports one in Tenerife with 13 cases, and another work one with a family branch in Gran Canaria that affects 12 people.

Of the eight educational outbreaks, all with a family branch, four have been registered in Tenerife (with ten, nine, eight and five cases), two in Gran Canaria (with six and four associated cases), one in Lanzarote (five affected) and one in La Palma (with 13 cases).

With respect to the three sports outbreaks, two have been reported in Tenerife and one in Gran Canaria, with 13, eight and six associated cases, respectively, and all linked to gyms.

In addition, 41 old outbreaks that remain open are still being monitored and some of them have grown in number of cases. Among them, a work one with a family branch in Tenerife that already affects 93 people, a social one in El Hierro with 52 associated cases, and two educational ones with a family branch in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, with 52 and 38 cases, respectively.

Currently, and after completing the vaccination of group 1, there is no outbreak, nor any user of social health centers affected by COVID-19.
