The Ministry of Health has put the follow-up to the strike by doctors in Primary and Hospital Care of the Canary Islands Health Service at 7.7% this Wednesday, called by the Canary Islands Medical Union and SEMCA, which claim it has been supported by 56% of the physicians.

In a statement, Health specified that 311 medical professionals have supported the strike out of the 4,023 who were affected by this call, which is in its fourth day of mobilization, while the president of the Canary Islands Medical Union, Éric Álvarez, has pointed out that the follow-up figure they have is approximate, because they do not yet have all the data.

The doctors' response to the strike remains the same as in previous days, indicated Álvarez, who has questioned the assessment given by the Ministry, since "their evaluation includes doctors on vacation, those on leave, attending courses or conferences, when the physicians who can actually go on strike should be counted."

According to the Ministry's note, by health areas, in Gran Canaria 230 out of 1,574 affected personnel supported the protest, which represents 14.61%, while in Tenerife the follow-up was 65 out of 1,934, that is, 3.36%.

In Lanzarote, four out of the 244 professionals affected by the strike went on strike, 1.64%; in Fuerteventura, four out of the 314 affected, that is, 1.27%, and in La Palma the follow-up was 5.48%, since eight out of the 146 affected went on strike.

In La Gomera and El Hierro, no doctors have been on strike, according to the data provided by Health, as has happened in the other three days held.

According to Álvarez, there are so few doctors in La Gomera that they cannot go on strike, but in El Hierro they are aware that some physicians are supporting it.

The regional department has pointed out that this Wednesday's day, in which 1,326 personnel have covered the minimum services decreed, has passed without notable incidents.
