This week, the Health Department reports eight new outbreaks in Lanzarote, three more than last week. Of these, one of work origin stands out with seven affected, with family ramifications, the same number of people infected as another outbreak of educational origin on the island. In addition, the Ministry of Health has detailed an outbreak linked to the practice of handball, originating on the island and branching out to Gran Canaria, with three affected.

In the Archipelago as a whole, the Health Department reports 118 new outbreaks this week with 533 cases. These new outbreaks are distributed by islands as follows: 55 in Gran Canaria, 40 in Tenerife, 13 in Fuerteventura, eight in Lanzarote, and two in La Palma. These new outbreaks represent an increase of twelve compared to those reported last week.

By area in which they occurred, 35 are social, 32 family, 22 work-related, 20 educational, four health-related, three in socially vulnerable groups, one sports-related and one socio-health-related.

This week, most of the outbreaks range between three and six cases, except for one that exceeds the figure of 10 people infected, of social origin, with family ramifications, with 12 affected reported in Tenerife.

Of the three outbreaks registered in socially vulnerable groups reported among people arriving in the Canary Islands by pateras or cayucos, two have been registered in Fuerteventura and one in Gran Canaria.

The family outbreaks, all reported among families from different addresses, range between three and six associated cases, except for three in Gran Canaria with ten, nine and eight infected.

The social outbreaks have between three and six associated cases, except for two with family ramifications, registered in Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, with seven and six people infected, respectively.

The Health Department also details that the work outbreaks have between three and six associated cases, except for two both with seven associated cases: one registered in Lanzarote, with family ramifications, and another in Fuerteventura with social, family and educational ramifications.

Of the 20 educational outbreaks, all with family ramifications, thirteen have been registered in Tenerife (most between three and five affected, except for two with eight cases and one with nine cases), five in Gran Canaria (with ten, nine, nine, six and four cases), one in Lanzarote (with seven cases), and one in La Palma, with social and family ramifications (nine cases).

The four health outbreaks, all with family ramifications, have been reported one in the Bellevue Hospital (Tenerife), with five cases, including one patient and two workers, and three in the Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín University Hospital, with five, five and three associated cases, of which three are patients.

The sports outbreak, linked to the practice of handball, has been reported in Lanzarote, with associated cases in Gran Canaria, and three people affected.

The socio-health outbreak has been registered in a center in Gran Canaria, with nine affected, eight residents and one worker.
