Ladislao Rodríguez Bonilla, better known as "El mudo de Haría", has been one of the most prominent figures in the municipality. A man who has been present at many of the important events that have been held in the municipality, the City Council highlights.
For this reason, the City Council has considered it appropriate "to recognize" this resident. As explained by the City Council, the objective is to show "the figure of "El mudo" together with what has been his work tool throughout his life, a barber chair that will be located in the same area where he has been living and working", he points out.
"The figure of this man has been linked to the history of Haría in those last 70 years, not only from the point of view of collaboration", for that reason, "we want it to be captured, that is the true intention of this sculptural ensemble", says Pepe Torres, councilor of the City Council.
A work that will be carried out by the artist Rigoberto Camacho, who "has already been commissioned" and is expected to "be installed before the summer", he confirms.
Despite the fact that "El mudo" already has all possible recognitions: the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands, the Haría Award and the Haría football field, etc. the residents together with the City Council did not want to stop recognizing the many good things he has contributed to the municipality.
"There was no charity event in which Ladislao was not present", also being "director of practically all sports", reveals Torres. And also, "as a result of the work he has done professionally and his collaboration throughout the municipality", he acknowledges.
"What we have done is test the interest of the citizens in that recognition", confirms Pepe Torres. "Although we already knew that the citizens were going to agree", he points out. But we had to "recognize what the citizens had already appreciated" and make visible that "there was agreement in reflecting what his task was", concludes Torres.
