Sergeant 1st Class Gloria Moreno, head of Seprona in Lanzarote and one of the most recognized figures in the field of animal protection in Spain, has been awarded the National Gold Award for initiatives and good practices in animal protection, one of the highest distinctions granted to members of the Security Forces and Corps for their commitment to animal welfare.

The recognition was presented on June 19 at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Animal Rights, in Madrid, during the celebration of the VII Awards for Police Services for Animal Protection, organized by the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030.

The distinction recognizes an exemplary professional career dedicated to the defense of animals and compliance with animal protection legislation. Over the years, Gloria Moreno has led and intervened in hundreds of actions related to cases of animal abuse, abandonment, illegal trafficking of species, and protection of wild and domestic fauna.

The agent, who also actively collaborates with the Professional Association for Animal Defense (PRODA), has become a national reference for her professional rigor, investigative capacity, and commitment to animal protection.

“This recognition puts a name and face to work that is often carried out away from the spotlight. Gloria Moreno represents professional excellence and daily commitment to the protection of those who have no voice,” PRODA highlights.

The association emphasizes that the award also represents recognition of the work carried out by agents specialized in animal protection throughout the national territory.

“The effective application of animal protection laws largely depends on prepared, committed, and brave professionals. Gloria Moreno embodies these values and is an example for new generations of agents.”

During the institutional act, the Sergeant's contribution to improving animal protection mechanisms and to social awareness about the importance of combating any form of abuse or abandonment was especially highlighted.

For PRODA, this recognition is particularly significant news as it falls to one of the professionals who is part of its network of collaborators, made up of experts from different fields linked to animal defense.

The entity has publicly wished to extend its congratulations to Gloria Moreno for a distinction that recognizes decades of service, dedication, and commitment to animal protection and compliance with the law.

In addition to her outstanding work leading the Seprona of Lanzarote and her recognized career in animal protection, Gloria Moreno plays an active role as a representative of the Civil Guard Legal Defense Association (DJGC), an entity dedicated to defending the professional and legal rights of Civil Guard members. Her involvement in this organization highlights her commitment to improving the professional conditions of officers and strengthening the legal guarantees necessary for the proper exercise of their duties. This dual role, combined with her vocation for public service, makes her a benchmark figure in both the field of animal protection and the defense of the rights of those who make up the Security Forces and Corps.
