Four candidates will compete for the title of Queen of the Arrecife Carnival 2012, in a gala that will be held next Saturday, at 9:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds. "It will be an elegant, dynamic event that the Arrecife Carnival deserves, because the carnival without a Queen would not be the same," said the Councilor for Festivities, Víctor Sanginés.
Three of the four candidates have been presented this Wednesday morning, at the facilities of the Valterra Sociocultural Center, where the draw for the candidates has been held.
Thus, the first to take the stage on Saturday night will be Itahisa Suárez Pérez, who will wear the fantasy "Paradise", by the designer Regin. This young woman, 25 years old, will represent the company Hi-Vision and the murga Los Gorfines.

The last candidate is Norma Davinia Gonzáles Hernández, who was unable to attend the presentation this Tuesday. In her name, was the designer of the fantasy she will wear, Manuel Camejo. This young woman will represent the S.H. Group, and will wear the fantasy "Flying to Carnival".
The Carnival of the Senses
Also, this Tuesday morning the exhibition "Carnival of the Senses" has been inaugurated, which, under the direction of the artist Rufina Santana, aims to be a tribute to the people, neighborhoods and groups that for generations have put their heart and soul into the carnival festivities. In it you can see photographs and images of the different carnivals, as well as some costumes.
This exhibition, as explained by the Councilor for Festivities, Víctor Sanginés, will be expanded and moved in later years to other neighborhoods of Arrecife. Precisely, according to Rufina Santana, next year it is intended to do the making off of the Carnival.
For his part, the mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, stressed that this exhibition is a "good initiative". "We will contribute to enrich it and it will be one more act of the Carnival," added the mayor.
Reguera has pointed out the need to recover "the Carnival of before" and that the people of Arrecife are able to feel "really proud" of the Carnival, in a year in which "they are being broadcast for all the Canary Islands".
