Families of IES (Secondary Education Institute) Yaiza have launched a signature collection on the platform Change.org to ask the Department of Education to create a new 1st year ESO group. This campaign has been launched after a total of 26 students have been left out of the educational center due to lack of places.
A group of families of first-year Secondary students has asked the Department to expand the places in the educational center and create one more group. At the same time, they have warned that some residents of the municipality are having to enroll their children in other centers and even considering enrolling them in a private center.
"Many families have chosen this center consciously and based on reasons, attending to its educational project and the needs of their children," reads the statement they have addressed to the Department of Education to resolve the situation. For the moment, these parents have not yet received a response.
These relatives have indicated that the increase in educational places is crucial to "meet the present and future educational needs of the locality." At the same time, they have warned that the creation of one more group would not only affect the minors on the waiting list, but also alleviate the "high pressure" on other centers, such as the CEO of Montaña Roja.
