Once again, the La Caleta de Famara festivities have concluded with a high level of participation, but without any significant incidents, despite the thousands of people who gathered this weekend in the coastal town of Teguise. The residents have once again demonstrated their great devotion to the Virgin of the Sacred Heart of Mary, who was accompanied this Sunday by thousands of faithful on land and sea in a unique procession that is increasingly attracting more public and followers, and which for the first time in many years reunited the town of La Graciosa with Famara.

The Teguise City Council has made a positive assessment of the festivities, thanking the citizens for their participation and the role of the Security and Emergency Forces, Civil Guard, Emerlan, Civil Protection, and Emergency Consortium.

The festivities of the Sacred Heart of Mary 2017 concluded on Sunday afternoon with the traditional water party at the La Caleta pier, after several days of celebration in which thousands of people, including locals and visitors, have enjoyed music, entertainment, and sports and cultural activities for all audiences, with massive response to the calls, especially in this last weekend of humorous and unmissable proposals such as those of Kike Pérez; those of a more religious nature such as the maritime-terrestrial procession; or those of a more festive nature, such as the two great night parties and the water party as the end point of the Caleta de Famara festivities.

Oswaldo Betancort, Mayor of Teguise, thanked all of them "for their dedication and willingness to guarantee the correct completion of each of the programmed events." "My sincere congratulations to the Festival Committee and the municipal staff, who have achieved an exquisite level of participation and a better atmosphere," said Betancort, who addressed especially the Local Police of Teguise, recognizing "the enormous effort and the impeccable work they do so that the residents of Teguise can enjoy a healthy and family atmosphere in each and every one of the town festivals that the municipality experiences. They have demonstrated this once again this summer, despite the coincidence of the Caleta de Famara and Caleta Caballo festivals," said the mayor. "On behalf of the Corporation that I preside over, my gratitude and recognition for the work well done, and my commitment to continue with this same philosophy in future editions," concluded Betancort.
