Eight deaths with Covid in three days in the Canary Islands and 2,493 new positives in the elderly

The accumulated incidence in people over 60 years of age is already at 1,067 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days

The Canary Islands has registered eight deaths of patients with Covid since last Tuesday, six of them in Tenerife and two in Gran Canaria. In addition, in these three days 2,493 new positives have been detected in people over 60 years of age, which is the only age group that is still being monitored.

The figures confirm the upward trend that is being recorded in the archipelago, both in the number of deaths and, especially, in the number of new cases, despite the fact that tests are no longer carried out on the general population.

In people over 60, the accumulated incidence is 1,067 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days and 548.74 in 7 days.

Regarding the latest deaths, one was 59 years old and the others between 83 and 91, according to the Ministry of Health.

Currently, in the Archipelago there are 296 people admitted to hospital with coronavirus, of which 20 are in the ICU and the rest, 276, are on the ward.
