Anthony Fernándes will be able to start his classes this Friday at the Pancho Lasso Art School in Arrecife, after the Department of Education has sought a provisional solution to the lack of an elevator in the educational center. This has been confirmed by the young man's mother and president of the Triwww Association, Zohila Casanueva, who met this Thursday morning with the new island director of Education, Celeste Callero.

According to Zohila Casanueva, the school's library, which is located on the ground floor, will be enabled to "move all of Anthony's classes there" until an elevator is installed in the center, which she hopes will happen in the coming months.

According to Anthony's mother, there was already a project for its installation and even a technical report from Patrimonio in this regard, "but the matter had not been signed and that is why it had not been executed, although it was signed yesterday."

However, until the works are carried out and "so that the rest of the students are not harmed either", Zohila Casanueva has proposed that in the meantime a folding platform be installed on the stairs, so that her son can go up and down it, "which could be installed in a month."

Criticizes the "negligence" of the school and the previous island director of Education

"But well, for the moment he can attend his classes tomorrow, although this could have been thought of before, because the educational center has known since April that Anthony was going there and in what circumstances, because they requested information from the IES César Manrique, which is where he was before," the young man's mother pointed out,

In addition, Zholina Casanueva has even stated that since last year, already knowing that her son wanted to study at the Pancho Lasso School, she had also been holding meetings with the then island director of Education, Mario Pérez. "And yes, yes, but a negligence on both sides that caused Anthony to see the problem when starting classes," she criticized.

Thus, she believes that "the situation that her son experienced this Wednesday could have been avoided", when he arrived at the School and could not enter class, although she celebrates that it has been resolved not only for Anthony, "but for everyone who needs it". "Because at any moment any student can fall, have any problem, and see themselves with that need too,"

In addition, according to her, another young woman who "is not as limited as Anthony" also studies at the Pancho Lasso School, but who "also has difficulties" and who "already denounced this problem two years ago". In fact, she explained that it was the mother of this student who had requested a meeting with the island director of Education this Thursday and that she proposed that she attend with her. "That was before knowing what happened yesterday, that she had already said yes," she pointed out.

However, Anthony's mother wanted to highlight the involvement shown by the new island director of Education. "This morning at 8 o'clock, without knowing that I was going to go with Anthony to this meeting, she already went to Pancho Lasso to meet Anthony and see what was happening. What happens is that we were not there, because since they had already told him not to go to class, he did not go, although she was able to see him later at the meeting," said Zohila Casanueva, who believes that Celeste Callero "seems to want to do things more or less well."
