The town of Conil has started this weekend, in an intense way, the celebration of its patron saint festivities in honor of Santa María Magdalena and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Once again, one of the events that the residents of this payment of the municipality of Tías experience with intensity is the procession with the image of María Magdalena, which every year leaves from her church to travel the central road of this region. The church has, since its origins, a unique bell donated by the Parranda Los Buches.

The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, the deputy mayor, Amado Jesús Vizcaíno, and the councilor of Festivities, Francisco Javier Aparicio Betancort, participated during the Eucharist and subsequent procession. The councilors of the Government group have also attended this noon to the celebration of the big day of the patron saint festivities of Conil where the Guadarfía Association, of the famous and deceased Ico Arrocha, made a special exhibition of dances and songs from the Canary Islands.

Next Saturday, July 29, starting at 5:00 p.m., the popular pilgrimage will take place, departing from Conil to the hermitage of Tegoyo, with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where numerous pilgrims who do not want to miss the annual event will participate, where the hermitage specially opens its doors to receive the pilgrims. The lively parrandas and dances will also be the protagonists of next Saturday night with the XII Folklore Encounter Juan Ramón Rodríguez Sepúlveda, with performances by the Gaida Association (from Lanzarote) and Guarache, from Tenerife. The night will end with the IX Taifa and Candil Dance. 

 

Exhibition of old cars


The festivities in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and La Magdalena, in Conil, started yesterday Saturday, 22, with an exhibition of vintage cars in the outer esplanade of the Aday Socio-Cultural Center, in Conil. And for the night of this Sunday, 23, a double session of theater is scheduled by the Asomavo Theater Group who will perform the plays La Herencia de Señor Justo and Mariquita la de Matula.

The patron saint festivities of Conil will conclude next Sunday, 30, with the popular barbecue and the night of dances enlivened by the Dúo Dachulo. The City Council of Tías, through its Department of Festivities, encourages all residents to join and participate in the program of events promoted by the Conil 2017 Festivities Commission.
