Commander Tanausú Guglieri takes office as head of Air Surveillance Squadron No. 22 in Lanzarote

In the ceremony, held at the Peñas del Chache Air Base, the commander stated that this squadron "are the eyes of the Air and Space Force in this part of Spain"

Commander Tanausú David Guglieri Paadín took office this morning as head of the Air Surveillance Squadron (EVA) No. 22, at the Peñas del Chache Air Base, located in the municipality of Haría.

The event, presided over by the general chief of the Canary Islands Air Command, Francisco Javier Vidal Fernández, was attended by various civil and military authorities, such as the general chief of the Air and Space Army's Air Surveillance and Control System, Eliseo Pérez Gómez, the colonel delegate of Defense in the Canary Islands, Nicolás Ramírez Arregui, the island director of A.G.E. of Lanzarote, Pedro Viera Espinosa, the first deputy mayor of Haría, Evelia García Fuentes, and the councilor of the Local Police of Teguise, Ginés González Suárez; military personnel from the various units located in the archipelago; members of the State Security Forces and Corps, as well as family, colleagues, and friends.

After the arrival of General Vidal, the resolution for which he was appointed was read. Then, the oath of office was pronounced, and Commander Guglieri then made the promise to faithfully fulfill the obligations of the position. Immediately afterwards, Captain Antonio Viciana, acting chief, handed over the unit's standard to the new chief, Commander Tanausú Guglieri.

During his speech, Commander Guglieri first thanked them for the trust they have placed in him to lead this important unit.

Afterward, he addressed the personnel present from EVA 22, expressing his firm intention to promote, under his command, "comradeship, cohesion, discipline, and loyalty, always from a close and human perspective," since he emphasized, "You are the heart of this unit, and my responsibility is to take care of that heart, strengthen it, and ensure that each of you can carry out your work in the best possible conditions." He also stated that, although the unit is small, "we are a great family that must row together in the same direction."

Commander Guglieri wanted to express special thanks to his wife, stating: "thank you for your patience, your strength, and for always being by my side in every stage of my career." His speech concluded with the promise to maintain the prestige of the unit, working day by day, to always be ready and respond with the greatest efficiency.

Afterward, General Vidal took the floor, highlighting the importance of Air Surveillance Squadron No. 22 in the Canary Islands. In his speech, he emphasized that "this squadron plays a crucial role in the security and defense of the Canary Islands' skies." He also pointed out that they are the eyes of the Air and Space Force in this part of Spain, being the first link in the chain of actions that forms the surveillance, control, and defense of our skies.

The act concluded with an emotional tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain.

 

About Commander Tanausú Guglieri Paadín

Commander Tanausú Guglieri was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1985. He began his military career in 2007 as a soldier in the Army, assigned to the Signals Regiment No. 2. Two years later, he entered the General Air Academy, as part of the 65th graduating class of the General Corps of the Senior Officers' Scale.

His first assignment as a lieutenant in the Air and Space Force is the Operational Air Traffic Squadron of Las Palmas, located in the Air Traffic Control Center-ENAIRE (Gran Canaria). In 2014, he was assigned to the Royal Guard in Madrid, within the Halberdiers company as head of the immediate security section.

In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of captain and assigned to the No. 3 Signal Squadron at the Alto de los Leones Air Base (Segovia), as head of the unit. In July 2025, he was promoted to major, at which point he left the unit and was assigned as head of the No. 22 Air Surveillance Squadron.

His courses include: Basic Parachuting, Interception Controller, Command of Parachute Units, and Protection and Escort of Authorities. He also has a degree in History and a Master's in Security, Defense, and Geostrategy.

As for awards and decorations, the following stand out: Cross of Aeronautical Merit with White Decoration, Cross of Police Merit with White Decoration, Cross of Merit of the Civil Guard with White Decoration, and Cross of the Netherlands.
