The National Police has arrested a Traffic Civil Guard officer accused of killing, dismembering, and throwing away the remains of his wife in the south of Gran Canaria. This was reported by the newspaper La Provincia this Thursday.

The detainee Miguel G.P., 70 years old, and his wife María Dolores, 59 years old, had moved to Gran Canaria in 2014 because he had been transferred to the island to join the Traffic Unit of the Benemérita.

According to the same newspaper, the officer reported her disappearance on March 18, 2020. Now, five years later, he has confessed to "having killed, dismembered and scattered" her remains in corners of southern Gran Canaria.

According to the Court's Communication Office to La Voz, the Court of Violence against Women is investigating him for a crime of homicide/murder and has ordered his admission to provisional prison, without bail.

The detainee in San Bartolomé de Tirajana has exercised his right not to testify before the Court.
