Circo Alegría returns to Arrecife and this time it does so with 'Aqua Circus', the new production that has prepared for the 2017 season and with which it will tour the main capitals of the country. The performances will take place from March 17 to April 2 under the large heated tent of Circo Alegría installed in the Fairgrounds.
This show has been conceived as the most surprising and risky production that Circo Alegría has produced since its inception in 2009. "We have never done such a costly job both in terms of human effort and economic," says Dicky Faggioni, artistic director of this circus company. "We have been working for 14 months while performing our previous show. The wear and tear has been terrible but the result is surprising," explains Faggioni.
Spectators will find a pool, with 24,000 liters of water, converted into a circus ring. Here, more than 40 artists will work performing their numbers with great risk and complication in order to surprise visitors. "Both children and adults will be amazed," guarantees the artistic director.
'Aqua Circus' represents a new challenge for the world of performing arts. This show combines musical quality, bases created and recorded in a Miami studio, live voice, special lighting effects and water fountains dancing to the beat of the musical notes.
As protagonists of this great technical display will be the 40 artists who will perform numbers as surprising as: aerial hoop, roller skater, antipodism, laser man, flying trapeze, contortionism, wire, aerial net, magic and, of course, comedy by the trio of clowns 'Alegría'. Among the cast of artists will be Acrodreams (Tomasz Kaskow and Fátima Martínez) winners of Insuperables, the talent show of Televisión Española.
Pirates, mermaids, sharks, fish and a whole world of fantasy will come together in this production that takes water as one of the essential elements of life and manages to make its elegant forms agree with the harmony of the circus numbers. This tribute to water, once again, conveys a message of environmental awareness, so the water used for the development of the show runs in a closed circuit and has treatments that ensure that its replacement is not necessary.
Both the monumental scenography and the costumes are fantasy, with a lot of color, absolutely visual and extravagant. "We have created it thinking about the fun of the little ones in the house," says the artistic director. "Since I conceived this show I wanted it to be like a dream, two hours long, in which there were platforms that appear and disappear, jumps, artists who dive into aquariums, bright costumes, aerial acrobatics and beautiful choreographies. And each magical moment accompanied by dancing fountains. A real show," describes Dicky Faggioni. "And the best thing is that the whole team has achieved it!" adds the artistic director.
Synopsis
The show tells the story of a shipwreck that occurred in the late eighteenth century in international waters. The crew of a pirate ship is caught in a huge storm. After fighting against wind and tide to save their ship, they fail to do so and are left without protection in the middle of the sea. Swimming they reach an island populated by circus artists. There they will be amazed by the incredible tricks and the skill of its inhabitants. Soon they will all become friends and understand the value of friendship and teamwork. Will the pirates manage to become circus artists as well?
