The Directorate-General for Emergencies, based on the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), has declared a strong surf alert starting at 06:00 this Saturday in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
On the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, waves will likely **exceed five meters in height**Initially, Aemet forecast waves between four and five meters, but the new prediction indicates that **they could exceed this height**
The swell period will have long periods of more than 12 seconds and the tide coefficient will be high. The episode will particularly affect the coasts open to the west, north, and northeast of the islands, as well as the channels between islands.
