The Christmas gift for associations that work with patients with painful pathology has arrived this day. The business group Cabrera Medina Orvecame has donated to Rotary Club Lanzarote a new Opel vehicle that will be raffled to raise funds destined entirely to the associations Afol, Afa and Adislan, which work to help people suffering from cancer, Alzheimer's and disabled, respectively.
This new solidarity initiative of Rotary Club Lanzarote, which has this important donation from one of the main business groups in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands, has been presented this Wednesday in an act that took place in the halls of the central headquarters of Orvecame Cabrera Medina, in the industrial area of Playa Honda, San Bartolomé, Lanzarote.
In this act, where the donation of the car and delivery of keys was made official, was attended on behalf of the Cabrera Medina Group, by Mamerto Cabrera, his sister Nieves Cabrera and Nayra Valls Cabrera, the new third generation that is in the group that promoted the conejero entrepreneur Don Mamerto Cabrera in 1967 with 5 rental cars. Likewise, María José Docal Serrano, president of the Rotary Club Lanzarote; Carmensa Arrcha, president of AFOL (Association of Relatives of Oncohematological Patients of Lanzarote), and directors of Afa (Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's, and Adislan, also spoke at this event.
During this 2016/17 Rotary Club Lanzarote will commemorate its 25 years of solidarity presence in Lanzarote and the Cabrera Medina group will celebrate in 2017 its 50 years since the beginning of the creation of the business group on the island of Lanzarote.
From this weekend, tickets will be on sale for 5 euros that will go entirely to the AFOL, AFA and Adislan associations. The draw, before a notary, will be held at the end of April at the Marina Lanzarote facilities in another great solidarity event that aims to raise more funds for these three groups: AFA, AFOL and Adislan.
The president of Rotary Club Lanzarote, María José Docal, pointed out that the "objective that the Rotarians have set this year of the 35th anniversary is to raise about 24,000 euros (with the car raffle and event in Marina Lanzarote) that will be distributed equally among the three associations", which will again receive the help of the Rotarians of Lanzarote. Adislan has had a therapeutic and heated swimming pool with solar panels since last year, where about 80,000 euros were invested between the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Rotary, through the Rotary Foundation based in the USA.
Nieves Cabrera, and Nayra Valls Cabrera, of the Cabrera Medina group, highlighted the "illusion of contributing a grain of sand to help people who need it, with whom the Afol, AFA and Adislan groups work". Cabrera "asked the population to participate in the solidarity initiative and acquire the tickets for 5 euros that will give the right to the draw of the Opel Corsa 1400, new, and whose contributions are destined entirely for the 3 associations".
For her part, María José Docal, president of Rotary in Lanzarote, indicated that the sale of tickets will begin this Thursday, taking advantage of the Christmas season. Carmen Arrocha, from Afol, stressed that the "economic contribution that comes through this type of initiatives is essential for the association to continue, and thanked the collaboration of Cabrera Medina and the Rotarians of Lanzarote who have always helped us".
