The airline Binter has scheduled around twenty special recovery flights between Sunday the 6th and this Monday the 7th of July to attend to 1,250 passengers who were affected by the cancellations due to adverse weather at Tenerife North Airport. Of these, four flights (two round trips) will operate between the island of Lanzarote and Tenerife with the aim of providing a response to travelers who were unable to depart this past Sunday.

According to Binter to La Voz, the special flights planned for this Monday will be carried out from two types of aircraft, an Embraer and an ATR. In the case of the first type of aircraft, the capacity is greater, with 132 seats, while the second is 74.

In addition, the airline is "still studying the needs of affected travelers to schedule new flights if necessary."

The adverse weather conditions that affected the airport facility in northern Tenerife throughout Sunday caused the cancellation of 68 operations, both arrival and departure, and the diversion of 16 flights to the airports of Tenerife South, Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura.

Despite the complicated situation at the TFN airport, Binter was able to operate 238 flights on Sunday.

Attention to affected passengers

From the Canarian airline they have responded to the complaints of the passengers, pointing out that they worked "from the first moment", putting in place "different measures to try to minimize the impact on their passengers of the inoperability in the Tenerife airport on a day of great activity."

In order to avoid cancellations, the company operated some national flights with Madrid and the Region of Murcia from Tenerife South Airport, enabling land transport between the two Tenerife airports.

Likewise, it has assured that "the affected travelers were attended to at the different airports, giving them food vouchers and facilitating land transport in case it was necessary to transfer to another airport."

It has also indicated that "facilities were given to make modifications to flights, allowing tickets to be changed to another date through the point of sale issuing the ticket or the Binter telephone service."

Finally, it has indicated that when designing the special recovery program, the airline "has given special consideration to the island of La Palma, which these days expects a large influx of visitors due to the celebration of its lustrous festivals."
