Norberto Cadavid Ramírez, resident in San Bartolomé, tenant and worker of the Morro de Chibusque farm, located between El Islote and La Vegueta, has requested in writing to the Cabildo of Lanzarote that his farm and the land for common hunting use be "excluded from the free hunting zone urgently", in a document to which La Voz has had access.

In the same petition, the citizen asks that the farm be signposted perimetrically and that his request be communicated to hunters with a hunting license issued by the Island Council. The main objective of the demand is to "avoid new incidents and stop the escalation of violence" that he has had to live through for years, according to Norberto.

The farm worker continues to live in "fear" after the last visit of the hunters to the surroundings of the house. After reporting violent verbal and physical aggressions along with racist attacks, the man reports that less than a month ago, on June 27, he was attacked again by a new hunter.

The man was on the farm around 7:30 p.m. that day when a hunter allegedly entered his land with his dogs to prepare to hunt. In the complaint that Norberto filed with the Civil Guard, he stated that he asked the hunter to leave the farm and that the aggressor became "aggressive", to the point of trying to throw him to the ground and hit him with punches and stones.

According to the injury report to which this editorial staff has had access, the situation caused him several injuries and wounds in some parts of the body. Among them, a punch in the left eye, a wound on the right wrist and on the third finger of the left hand, are the injuries that appear in the report presented by the worker.

In addition, the hunters' dogs also tried to attack his chickens, during the incident to which agents of the National Police and Civil Guard attended. Norberto emphasizes that the value of the chickens lost during the altercations ranges between 500 and 600 euros.

Another aggression in April 2021

As La Voz published on June 6, the citizen has been reporting for approximately "five years" a situation that for him is becoming "unsustainable": the loss of his livestock during hunting activities. When Norberto demands that the hunters stop entering the private land, since "it is not a hunting area", the "ordeal" begins.

"You are garbage, the farm is not yours, get away from here", are some of the comments he had to face on one of the occasions, when he was approached by a group of three armed hunters with four dogs.

One of the most "violent" events he had to live through occurred on April 7, 2021, when he was working on the farm. According to the complaint filed by Cadavid, a hunter approached with his vehicle and his dogs to carry out his hunting activities in the vicinity of the house. At that moment, the worker made it clear to the defendant that "he could not be there".

A response that the hunter "did not like" and for which the attempt of physical and psychological aggression began. "He appeared with a stick with an iron tip in his hand and was willing to attack me", he revealed. Cadavid ended up injured in the hand by a blow that the hunter gave him with the stick, when he was about to record what happened with his mobile phone. Immediately afterwards, the aggression continued, in which the defendant retreated and took some stones and tried to throw them at Norberto, although he managed to dodge them.

A few minutes later, Norberto managed to get closer to the house, but he was still being chased by the hunter. "Damn it, I'm going to kill him today no matter what, he won't get away with it, tonight I'm coming and setting fire to the house", he shouted while approaching the complainant with his vehicle. According to Norberto, these were other words spoken by the hunter: "It was good to make him disappear and kill him, you son of a bitch Colombian".
