The Local Police of Arrecife has intervened quickly in a new case of gender violence, managing to locate and arrest a man who assaulted his partner at home and fled the scene to evade police action. The events occurred at 8:35 a.m. this Wednesday, February 5, when the Local Police received a notice about a possible assault in a house in Arrecife.

Immediately, two patrols went to the scene, where the agents found the victim accompanied by another person. The woman had visible injuries, with a reddened cheekbone and a bleeding wound on her lip.

According to her testimony, after an argument, her partner had hit her in the face and, in a moment of tension, she feared for her life when the aggressor, enraged by her request that he leave the house, took a knife and made a gesture to attack her. This has been highlighted by the Police in a press release.

Given the seriousness of the events, one of the patrols immediately activated a search device to locate the aggressor. Thanks to the coordination and persistence of the agents, the 34-year-old individual was located just forty-five minutes later and arrested, and was subsequently placed at the disposal of the court. The victim received the necessary assistance and the protection protocols established in these cases were activated.

The Local Police of Arrecife values the rapid police response in this type of crime, reaffirming its commitment to the protection of victims of gender violence and to the arrest of those responsible. Likewise, citizens are reminded of the importance of reporting any case of abuse to activate the aid and protection mechanisms.
