La Plazuela, in the open commercial area of the capital of Lanzarote, hosted this Saturday morning "La Pasarela Por Ellas" where fourteen people who suffer from cancer, or have managed to overcome the disease, paraded.

On a large and long red carpet, these people - including thirteen women and one man - have been the protagonists of this solidarity parade that aimed to raise awareness among the population about the disease of cancer, so that society provides its support to patients, encouraging them to fight with strength to combat the disease.

With the support of the Arrecife City Council, presided over by the mayor Yonathan de León, and the collaboration of the Department of Acts and Events, directed by the councilor Óscar López, the delegation in Lanzarote of the Spanish Association against Cancer, presided over on the island by Lola Lasso, unfurled a red carpet on Antonio Porlier y Sopranis street, at the corner of La Plazuela.

In this neuralgic enclave of the open commercial area of Arrecife, the stage was set up for musical performances and informative stands of the collaborating firms of the Spanish Association Against Cancer. The attending public could acquire solidarity products, make donations, or become members of this association that offers assistance to families with cancer patients.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, accompanied by his family, and several councilors of his government group, was present at this event to show his support to patients who are fighting against the disease.

The mayor, who spoke together with the president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer on the island, Lola Lasso, stated that the City Council will continue to offer support to this group in their initiatives and pointed out that for next year, coinciding with the International Day against Breast Cancer - which is commemorated in this month of October, Arrecife will organize a large catwalk with regional projection so that people suffering from cancer do not stop feeling the support of the citizens in the face of their hard fight. The mayor stressed that more people are overcoming the disease and the city will always be with them and their families.

Lola Lasso, president on the island of this Association, offered her personal testimony when she was diagnosed with cancer ten years ago, and has managed to overcome it.

The catwalk, promoted by the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the province of Las Palmas, and the capital's City Council, took place between 10 am and 1 pm.

Fourteen people paraded in it, thirteen women and one man. All are cancer patients, suffer from it, or have already managed to overcome the disease, according to the details that were pointed out in this event, where many of these people spoke in public and shared their personal testimonies about cancer.

The technical organization has had the support of several companies and groups.  The initiative took place today coinciding with the week of October 19, where the International Day Against Breast Cancer was commemorated.

The people who paraded have had the help of several people who have assisted them in makeup, clothing, hairdressing, etc. Next to La Pasarela, several stalls were set up to gather support for this Spanish Association Against Cancer, which offers help to people suffering from the disease.

The catwalk also featured musical performances, where several of the songs mentioned overcoming and fighting. The event was presented by Leandro Martín.
