The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Celebrations, has managed to recover the Canary Islands Park for the celebration of the Children's and Adults' Murga Contest of the 2019 Carnival.
The Consistory points out that, after thirteen years of demands from the carnival groups, the engineers have endorsed the location of the Canary Islands Park to install the stage and the stands that will host participants and the public in the Carnival tribute to César Manrique.
The Festivities Councilor, David Duarte, expresses his "enormous satisfaction" for this achievement. "It has been a great joy to finally be able to hold the murga contests and other activities in this area so special for the carnival-goers of Arrecife and Lanzarote," said the mayor.
The City Council points out that "in the collective memory of all Lanzarote residents is the celebration of Carnival in this place, a symbolic space for lovers of these parties".
