Arrecife has already presented the five candidates who will fight for the title of Queen of the Carnival 2010 on February 13 at the Fairgrounds, starting at 9:30 p.m., in a gala that will be presented by the comedian Paz Padilla and Manuel Llanes. The order of departure of the young women is already established and has been assigned by the choice that each of them has made of a hat, which carried a number. In this way, in addition, a clear nod has been made to what is the reason for inspiration for this year's festivities, Michael Jackson.
Mayte Hernández was the one who chose the one that bore the number 1. Therefore, she will be the first to step on stage to present her fantasy "Love Spell Only for Your Eyes", by designer René Modisto. This 24-year-old hairdresser is presented for the first time to the contest and assures that the only motivation she has received to participate is her "own illusion". After her, Saray de León, 22 years old, with the fantasy "Venetian Caprice" by designer Jaime Romero, will appear on the stage. "I had been proposed to present myself other years but I was studying the degree and I could not". Now that she has finished her studies and is already a qualified nurse, she has finally been able to do so.
"It's a dream"
Next, "Goddess of Fire", the fantasy that Yenifer Cruz will wear, and which has been designed by Jaime Romero, will appear on the stage of the Fairgrounds. She is a second-year high school student and assures that she has presented herself to the election of Queen of the Carnival "for the emotion of living a new experience". Zoe Pastor will be the fourth candidate for the crown and will exhibit the fantasy "Greeks, Phoenicians and me", by designer Oswaldo Machín. Precisely the designer was the one who encouraged her and insisted that she present herself to the contest until, finally, she succeeded. Despite the illusion, Zoe confesses that she feels "very, very, very nervous".
Samanta Lorente, a fourth-year ESO student, will be the one to close the parade with "Copa Cabana". A fantasy that has been elaborated jointly by the dressmakers René Modisto and Jesús Cuadrado. The 18-year-old says that presenting herself as Queen of the Carnival "has always been something that I liked and that I wanted to do". For her, as for the rest of the five candidates, getting the crown "is a dream".
Next Saturday the 13th it will be decided on whose head the crown will be placed, which will be ceded by the Queen of the Carnival 2009, Davinia Hernández.
