Despite the threat of rain, the Catholic community moved to the main church of San Ginés Obispo in Arrecife to participate in 'Palm Sunday', the prelude to Holy Week.
At 11 in the morning and with the three naves of the temple full, the celebration of the Eucharist began, presided over by the parish priest Juan Carlos Medina. A mass that began with the blessing of the palms and olive trees, a moment that was experienced with great animation with the songs performed by the 'Parish Choir', directed by the religion teacher, José Juan Umpierrez. Songs to which the assembly also joined, occupying a prominent place next to the Main Altar, the boys and girls who are preparing to receive their First Communion.
The celebration of the Eucharist was developing with total normality when suddenly the first drops of water began to fall, prolonging in time preventing the image of the 'Lord of the Little Donkey' from going out in procession through the main streets of Arrecife. The mass ended with the 'Special Blessing', and little by little the parishioners, very saddened, were vacating the temple.
