The City Council of Arrecife has distributed 250,000 euros among university students and students of intermediate and higher-level training cycles in the municipality who study outside the island. The objective of this scholarship is to cover travel expenses. Specifically, the Governing Board approved this past Wednesday the definitive list of students benefiting from these transport grants.

A total of 570 students registered in Arrecife have benefited from these transport grants outside the island contemplated by the City Council of the capital of Lanzarote for the 2022-2023 academic year, amounting to 438.56 euros each, which will be deposited in the bank accounts provided by the beneficiaries in the coming weeks.

In this sense, the mayor Yonathan de León Machín highlights that "this year's municipal budget contemplates an increase of 100,000 euros in the amount of these grants for the next school year, which will be 350,000 euros, an amount that we intend to continue increasing even more in the coming years because this Government group has among its priorities to continue helping families for the academic education of our young people. With this, we will contribute to making Arrecife a municipality with a future, having a trained workforce."

For her part, the Councilor for Education, Abigail González, points out that the Arrecife City Council is already working, through the Education area, on the call for these scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year "in order to publish them as soon as possible, because we are fully aware that they represent a relief to the economic effort made by many families in the municipality to give higher education to their daughters and sons, and that is why we want to continue increasing their amount in the coming years."
