The Auxiliary Nursing Care Technicians (TCAE), grouped under the State Platform TCAE Unidos por el C1, have demanded on Friday morning a professional reclassification to subgroup C1, after denouncing "more than 30 years of labor discrimination".
Currently, these professionals continue to belong to subgroup C2, and they have denounced that it is "a professional classification that does not correspond to the academic qualification required" to practice their profession, nor to their functions within the National Health System.
The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands Government has reported that the strike called nationwide has registered a 4.3% participation among workers in this professional group within the healthcare institutions of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), across both Primary Care and Hospital settings.
Of the 3,290 staff called to strike, 1,326 were affected by this call, of whom 57 participatedA total of 107 Nursing Assistants, 3.74% of the total, have supported the national strike called for this Friday, November 28
By health areas, the follow-up in Gran Canaria was supported by 22 of the 355 affected staff, representing 6.2%, while in Tenerife the follow-up was 28 out of 522, meaning 5.36%. For their part, in Lanzarote, four out of the 107 professionals affected by the strike supported it, 3.74%, and in Fuerteventura, three out of the 260 affected supported it, meaning 1.15%. For their part, in La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro, none of the professionals affected by this call went on strike.
In total, throughout the morning there were 1,1982 staff on minimum services and the day has passed without notable incidents
