The residents of Güime have called a demonstration to protest regarding the controversy of the installation of the First Attention Center of 72 hours for migrants in the area of El Polvorín. An issue that was already clarified by the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez weeks ago, when he confirmed that "no migrant center will go in El Polvorín", during an interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.
This Friday, the Councilor of the San Bartolomé City Council, Antonio Rocío, has reaffirmed what the mayor stated. "The migrant center will not be built in Güime," he reveals emphatically to the radio microphones. A statement with which he intends to settle the issue and reassure the residents of the area.
In addition, he makes it clear that there is nothing to object to regarding the center or the comments of the citizens. "There is nothing new, nothing has happened," he confirmed.
From the Consistory they have criticized the attitude of some opposition parties, CC and PP, towards the controversy that has arisen in Güime. "I think it's irresponsible, the mayor has been very clear and forceful," he assured. He also regrets the attitude that some parties have decided to take. "It's very sad, there are parties that are like hyenas, they are looking for blood and controversy," he pointed out.

The councilor assures that the strategy carried out by the position is based on "confusing people, deceiving them with unreal news and unfounded lies." He demands that measures be taken to find a place to welcome the migrants who arrive in Lanzarote. "They are scavengers waiting for the news, instead of starting to look for solutions," he reveals.
Rocío asks that responsibilities be taken by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, who have been absent regarding what happened. "It is an Insular issue but, where is the Cabildo?" he asks.
He concludes his intervention by recalling the importance of installing the center in Lanzarote and not looking the other way. "It is needed on the island, we cannot ignore the reality."
